As the spring season blooms, BurlingtonGreen is gearing up for a series of exciting events aimed at community engagement, environmental stewardship, and nature celebration. From community clean-ups to guided nature walks, there’s something for everyone to enjoy while making a positive impact on our local environment.

Community Clean Up: Uniting Burlington for a Cleaner Tomorrow

Running until October 30, BurlingtonGreen’s Community Clean Up initiative invites residents, families, work teams, and groups to join hands in collecting litter from parks, streams, schoolyards, and neighborhoods. With a goal to engage 12,000 participants this year, the initiative encourages individuals to organize clean-up events and register them for tracking and sharing impact. Free bags, gloves, and tips are provided, alongside a map showcasing clean-up locations across Burlington. Plus, there’s a nationwide Butt Blitz aiming to recycle 1 million cigarette butts!

Community Tree Planting: Growing Together for a Greener Future

On April 20, join BurlingtonGreen and the City of Burlington Forestry Department for a Community Tree Planting event at Pathfinder Park. Advance registration is required for this hands-on opportunity to contribute to Burlington’s greenery.

Earth Day Celebration at the Beach: Fun and Action for Environmental Change

On April 27, celebrate Earth Day at the Beach with BurlingtonGreen’s Eco-Hub activities at 1094 Lakeshore Road. Participate in a Beach Litter Clean Up, Butt Blitz, Eco-Trivia wheel, button making, pollinator seed ball crafting, and more! It’s a day filled with eco-friendly fun and learning.

Electronic Waste Drop-off and Repair Cafe: Recycling Responsibly

Mark your calendars for May 25 when Burlington Green hosts a Zero Waste Drop-Off event at Burlington Centre mall. Dispose of electronic and other waste for proper recycling, complemented by the Burlington Repair Cafe fixing smaller household items.

Guided Nature Walks: Exploring Burlington’s Natural Treasures

Teaming up with Burlington Public Library, BurlingtonGreen offers guided nature walks like the Bird Walk and Talk on May 4 at Tansley Woods Park and the Tree Walk and Talk on May 14 outside the Central Library. Registration opens April 17 through Burlington Library.

World Migratory Bird Day and Grandmother Gail’s Walk: Connecting with Nature’s Wonders

Join BurlingtonGreen on May 11 for a guided bird walk at Burlington Beach, celebrating World Migratory Bird Day. Later in June, Grandmother Gail will share her wisdom on local medicines from the beach ecosystem. Advance registration for Grandmother Gail’s walk opens in May.

Nature Discovery at Burlington Beach: Engaging Eco-Activities for All

Starting in May, BurlingtonGreen offers weekend nature discovery activities and eco-action resources at their Eco-Hub on Burlington Beach. From guided walks to eco-crafts, nurdle hunts, and eco-trivia, there’s plenty to explore and enjoy.

BG’s First Native Plant Sale: Supporting Biodiversity and Climate Resiliency

BurlingtonGreen introduces its first Native Plant Sale, featuring kits for sun, shade, and butterflies available for advance online purchase and in-person pick-up. These plants not only beautify gardens but also promote local biodiversity and climate resilience.
