Write Here, Write Now: Burlington Public Library's Annual Writing Contest

Burlington Public Library is thrilled to announce the return of its annual writing contest, Write Here, Write Now, taking place from May 1 to May 31. This contest is open to everyone aged 10 and older who lives, works, or attends school in Burlington, offering a platform for local writers to showcase their creativity.

Contest Details and Theme

This year’s theme, “Journeys of Discovery,” invites participants to explore a wide range of interpretations. Entrants are encouraged to let their imaginations wander, whether it’s through a physical journey, an emotional voyage, or an exploration of self-discovery or new worlds. The contest features three categories: short stories, poems, and comics, with each category judged by age groups (10-12, 13-17, and 18+).

Participation and Prizes

Last year, the contest received nearly 200 entries, highlighting the diverse talent within the Burlington community. We are looking for unpublished and original works that are sparked by your imagination. The deadline for entries is Friday, May 31, so participants are encouraged to start crafting their masterpieces soon.A panel of dedicated judges will select one winning entry from each age and contest category. Winners will receive a $100 cash prize and earn the admiration of the community for their storytelling prowess.
